How to Choose a Reliable Local Cab Service
Most fare disputes don't happen because of bad driving โ they happen because of unclear expectations set before the trip even starts. Ask these six questions before you confirm a booking.
1. Is the fare fixed or does it depend on the meter?
A fixed fare, quoted in writing before the trip, protects both sides. If an operator can only give you a "roughly around" number, ask what factors could change it and get that in writing too.
2. What exactly is included in that fare?
Tolls, parking, driver allowance and waiting time are the four line items that most often get added later. Confirm all four are included, not just the base distance charge.
3. Who is actually driving, and can I know in advance?
A reliable operator can tell you the driver's name and share a photo or ID before pickup. If they can't identify the driver until the morning of the trip, that's a sign of a loosely managed fleet.
4. What happens if my plans change?
Ask about the cancellation and rescheduling policy before you book, not after. A clear, reasonable policy โ not "no refunds" with no further explanation โ is a good sign.
5. Is there a real person to call if something goes wrong mid-trip?
Test this before your trip: call the support number listed and see how quickly a real person answers. A day tour is the wrong time to discover the "24x7 helpline" is unattended.
6. Do other customers mention the same driver or vehicle repeatedly?
Recurring names in reviews usually mean a stable, employed driver base rather than a rotating pool of contracted vehicles โ generally a better sign for consistency.
